Do you ever notices the “Distractions” and “Time wasters”, those you are facing while do office or other important stuff?
From my point of view, “Distractions” and “Time wasters” are those, which has blocked your way to progress, has eaten your productivity and your previous time.
If you spend the same time, which you are currently spending on “Time Wasters” rather than on other productive or self-improvement stuff, we could have achieve more in our carrier and in life.
Do you ever care to notice the total time wasted on these distractions? If not? Then try to note down the time spent on these distractions on our Outlook calendar or Google Calendar, you will me amazed by the result, by seeing that your precious of hours are gone waste by these distractions.
Remember, You may can have more money after losing it, but you can’t have more time after wasting.
I had started working on my distractions long time ago. After seeing the result of time spent on non-productive wok, on social sites etc..
I started working on optimize my time more effectively and at that time, I have enter the world of “Time management”.
The list of my main distractions was.
1. Facebook.
2. Random surfing of “COOL” websites.
3. What’s app.
4. Twitter.
5. Watching You Tube videos.
6. Playing video games.
7. Other time wasters.
In my point the best way to deal with Time Wasters is to use the “HMT” method.
What is “HMT”?
The full form of “HMT” is “Hour Monitoring Technique”, this technique is developed by, a very non-famous person, => ME {Yes me, aman dhally}.
I and my few friends, used this technique to deal with “Time Wasters”. It works well for me.
This technique works on moral grounds.
Before using this technique: Pick a paper and pen and write the answers of the following questions. If your answers are in YES, then go ahead, if your answers are in NO, than you don’t need this.
1. Do, you want a good hike?
2. Do you want a good pay rise?
3. Do you want to move ahead in your job or carrier?
4. What matter you most? Your time? Or random chat on what’s app or stupid soap operas on TV.
How to use “HMT”?
For two continuous weeks, note down each and every hour spent. Every minutes spent on every activity, from your official work, to time spent on chatting with someone on WhatsApp.
It’ doesn’t matter, if they are official or personal. If you are spending one hour on Facebook, note it down, and if you are spending time on WhatsApp note it down.
After a week summarize the time spent on each activity and “Time Waster”.
After summarize the total time spent, you may able to know, how much time you have spent on office work, personal work, and on time wasters.
After seeing the result, if you still believe, that you still opt for a good pay rise? If yes, you are good to go, no need to do anything.
If in your deep below your heart, you feel that you are spending more time on “Time Wasters” rather than doing official work, than it’s time to wake up.
May be at this time, you may feel guilty. Now it’s time to do the UNDO the time wasting habits.
Now, notice you main time waster, and try to avoid using it, or use it in less frequency than before. Keep tracking the time , and hopefully you will see the positive results.
Remember:
I do believe, if we really feel guilty about done something bad, we tried our best to patch up the things, we try our best to fix the things, and it’s in a human nature.
Hurdle 1:
If you are following my blog posts, you can notice that, from past 3 days, I am keep complaining about the Power Cut {load shading} issue is our area.
Last night Power went at 12:00AM. From 12:00 AM till 4:30AM, we were using power backup {invertor}, and at 4:30 the batteries of Invertor get drained {normally, single battery invertor has 3-4 hour back up max}.
We all wake up at 4:30 AM in the morning, because of no electricity L , the power restored at 5:30.
The difficult part starts here. My mind asking me to keep awake, as this is the first day of my Goal, and due to “External Challenges” I wake up 1 hour early but my body and heart was saying to get back to sleep.
As, I learned in the last post, that, don’t feel doing it or not, just do it.
I wakes up, and make a cup of Tea for myself, and after that, I started reading books.
I keep on my goal to wake up early in the morning, and as the goal, there are 6 more days to go.
Hurdle 2 :
It’s 11:30 PM and still no electricity, it seems GOD is testing me, by giving me lots of hurdles, or maybe he is testing my strength.
Lesson learned:
Always try hard to keep on your goals, if you are facing a hurdle on the first step of the goal, or on the first day of the goal, don’t give up, and try your best. I can’t say much on this now, as it’s my first day. When I have completed my remaining 6 days, then I may be have more to share with you.
I have enjoyed, waking early in the morning, and i have enjoyed, see Pigeons, Crows, and Squirrels.
Don’t assume that , I have a nice, beach , or park or hill view in the front of my balcony. I home is located in the crowded place.
