“Engage in tasks and hobbies that bring you joy, like reading a book or going for a run.” – Jeff Gunn
You work day in and day out, earning bread for your family, taking care of everyone — and then suddenly you realize that life has slipped away, and you haven’t done anything just for yourself.
I have a few friends who hold good positions in MNCs, and when I ask them about their hobbies, they go completely blank. One might assume that if a person is working in a good company at a senior position, they must be well-organized in life. But that’s often not the case. Most of us just keep working, feeling exhausted, looking forward to the weekend — and then starting the same circle again on Monday.
If you are living like this, then STOP. TAKE A PAUSE. THINK!
Having a hobby can break this vicious circle. It makes you feel alive. It’s something you do purely for yourself — time set aside only for you. As children, we may not have had money to spend on hobbies, but now that we earn, we can invest a little in ourselves.
Is there a long-pending hobby sitting on your “To Do Later” list? Learning to sing, playing a musical instrument, going for long walks, joining the gym, or practicing yoga?
Invest in yourself now. These hobbies will have a profound impact on you. They will heal you mentally, rejuvenate you, and may even make you a better person.
So, don’t overthink. Pick a hobby and start today.
Action Item : Pick one hobby today and block 30 minutes this week to try it.
Question for you :“What’s one hobby you’ve been meaning to restart or try again?”
All the best.
